PSYCHIATRIC SERVICES
Cindy Shields, MSN, PMHNP-BC
Welcome! Creating an environment that allows mental health professionals to be creative in our practice has been a long-term goal that I’m excited to have reached. I’m a dual-certified psychiatric (PMHNP-BC) and Adult-Gero Primary Care (NP-C) nurse practitioner with 17 years of experience across a variety of healthcare settings. My clinical education includes a Master of Science in Nursing and post-graduate certificate from the University of Michigan-Flint. I also obtained a Masters in Health Administration from Ohio University.
Through my practice in behavioral health I’ve realized the importance of using an integrative care model to treat mental health conditions. I completed the Nutritional Psychiatry program through the Integrative Psychiatry Institute and an am currently enrolled in the Psychiatry Redefined Integrative Psychiatry Fellowship.
I believe that correcting root causes of mental illness leads to better outcomes for clients. My approach combines traditional psychiatric care with functional medicine principals, including nutrition, lifestyle and behavioral interventions. I meet each client where they are in their journey and value my role in helping clients feel heard, validated and empowered to reach their goals. Project Wellness was founded to allow myself and like-minded clinicians to devote the time and resources needed to help our clients realize optimal wellness.
